My brother Hugh and I were driving through the mountains of north Georgia near the town of Hiwassee. We saw this old couple sitting on their front porch and decided to stop and visit. His name was Raymond. His wife was Bessie. They were blue-berry farmers and had just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Hugh kept the conversation going while I drifted into the background and did sketches and took photographs.
